Medan, August 21, 2026 – Alumni of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), Class of 1992, held a series of reunion activities to commemorate 34 years of togetherness. Carrying the spirit of “Weaving Memories, Strengthening Bonds,” the event provided an opportunity for alumni to reminisce about their years of study while strengthening their relationship with their alma mater.

The series of activities began with an alumni gathering held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Meeting Room on the 1st Floor of FK USU. The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere and was attended by Class of 1992 alumni and the FK USU Dean’s Office. It served as a space for reminiscing, sharing stories, and strengthening the sense of kinship that has endured for more than three decades.

The meeting opened with remarks from the Dean of FK USU, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.K.Fm, who expressed his appreciation for the alumni’s presence and continued concern for their alma mater. The Dean hoped that the reunion would not only serve as an opportunity to remember the past but also strengthen relationships and create opportunities for collaboration between alumni and FK USU in supporting institutional development.

The Chair of the Reunion Committee, Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M.Gizi, Sp.GK, Subsp.PK, also delivered remarks. She highlighted that the reunion was a valuable opportunity for alumni to reconnect after pursuing their respective journeys over the years. The bonds established through the reunion are expected to be maintained and become a source of strength in contributing to both the alma mater and society.

The relationship between alumni and their alma mater also reflects the spirit of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Collaboration between the academic community and alumni represents a form of partnership that can support institutional development, facilitate experience sharing, and create sustainable contributions to education and healthcare services.

As a gesture of appreciation for their alma mater, the day’s activities concluded with the presentation of a commemorative gift from the Class of 1992 alumni to FK USU. The presentation symbolized appreciation, a sense of belonging, and the alumni’s commitment to continuing to support the institution that has played an important role in their journey.

The reunion continued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with a leisurely walk around the FK USU campus. The activity was held as part of the reunion series and served as an opportunity to strengthen bonds among alumni in a healthy and warm atmosphere.

The leisurely walk also reflected an awareness of the importance of maintaining health and fitness. This is in line with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which promotes improved quality of life and greater awareness of healthy lifestyles. Through a simple activity such as a leisurely walk, the alumni also encouraged an active and healthy way of life.

The 34th anniversary reunion of FK USU Class of 1992 alumni concluded with a group photo involving the alumni and the FK USU Dean’s Office. The moment marked their continued togetherness and symbolized the strong relationship between the alumni and their alma mater.

Through this reunion, the spirit of “Weaving Memories, Strengthening Bonds” is expected to extend beyond the gathering itself and develop into an increasingly strong relationship that brings meaningful benefits to FK USU, its alumni, and the wider community.
