The delegation from FK USU sent two teams to compete in USIM iMicrobe 2026. Team B won First Runner-Up after competing against 28 teams of medical and dental students from various universities in Malaysia and Indonesia, while Team A secured a place in the Top 10.
Team 1 leader, dr. Rr. Sinta Irina, stated that this activity reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Medicine USU in providing health education to the community, particularly to young students in Islamic boarding schools.
This activity aims to improve public knowledge and awareness regarding stunting prevention through educational and participatory approaches. The program provides education on the importance of balanced nutrition, proper parenting practices, and early stunting prevention efforts.
“The Faculty of Medicine at USU must become an institution that is adaptive to change, excel in education and research, and capable of delivering tangible impact to society through high-quality healthcare services. This is a shared responsibility that we will carry out with full integrity and dedication,” said Dr. dr. Muara, Dean for the 2026–2031 period.
Prof. Dr. dr. Elmeida Effendy, M.Ked(KJ)., Sp.KJ(K)., emphasized the crucial role of psychiatrists in addressing increasingly complex mental health challenges. “Mental health has become a critical issue within today’s healthcare system. Graduates are expected to adapt to scientific advancements while delivering comprehensive and humane care to patients,” she stated.
