As a concrete manifestation of the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education and concern for others, the Clinical Pathology Residency Program (PPDS) of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), in collaboration with the Blood Management Unit (UPD) of Haji Adam Malik Hospital Medan, held a Routine Blood Donation activity on Saturday, September 27, 2026.

Carrying the theme “Give Blood, Give Hope, Give Life,” the activity, held at Grand Ocean, Cemara Asri Complex, Medan, invited the FK USU academic community, healthcare professionals, and the general public to participate in a humanitarian action through blood donation. The theme reflects that every blood donation not only helps meet blood supply needs but can also provide hope and life for patients in need.

The series of activities included blood pressure checks, health screening, and blood donation carried out by a professional team from the UPD of Haji Adam Malik Hospital. The enthusiasm of the participants was reflected in the participation of academic community members, healthcare professionals, and the general public who came to donate blood.

This blood donation activity supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being through efforts to help ensure the availability of blood, which is an important component of healthcare services. Adequate blood supplies can support the treatment of patients requiring transfusions in various medical conditions and help sustain healthcare services.

In addition to the health aspect, this activity also served as a means of fostering concern and solidarity within the community. Voluntary participation in blood donation reflects a spirit of sharing and concern for the needs of others. This value is in line with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, particularly through collaboration between the Clinical Pathology Residency Program of FK USU and the UPD of Haji Adam Malik Hospital in encouraging the community to contribute to healthcare needs.

Through this activity, the Clinical Pathology Residency Program of FK USU hopes to help support the blood supply needs of Haji Adam Malik Hospital while increasing public awareness of the importance of regular blood donation.

The Routine Blood Donation activity of the Clinical Pathology Residency Program of FK USU in collaboration with the UPD of Haji Adam Malik Hospital was carried out smoothly. The enthusiasm and participation of the donors were an important part of realizing a simple humanitarian action that provides benefits to those in need. A drop of blood donated can become hope and life for others.
