On Friday–Sunday, September 15–17, 2023, the "Basic Surgical Skill I Bedah Dasar (Basic Surgery)" training event was held at Hotel Kyriad Muraya, Banda Aceh City, attended by the FK USU Obgyn Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) students. The event was organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK). The activity took place with Dr. dr. Cut Meurah Yeni, Sp.O.G., Subsp. KFm. as the moderator and Dr. dr. Cut Meurah Yeni, Sp.O.G., Subsp. KFm., Prof. Dr. dr. Rajuddin, Sp.O.G., Subsp. F.E.R., dr. Hilwah Nora, M.Med,Sci, ART, Sp.O.G., Subsp. F.E.R., dr. Niken Asri Utami, Sp.O.G., Subsp. KFm., IBCLC., dr. Sarah Ika Nainggolan, Sp.O.G., Subsp. Onk., Dr. dr. Hasanuddin, Sp.O.G., Subsp. Onk., dr. Ari Hidayat, Sp.O.G., Subsp. Onk., Dr. dr. Roza Sriyanti, Sp.O.G., Subsp. KFm., and dr. Iman Helmi Effendy, M.Ked(OG)., Sp.O.G., Subsp. Obginsos as resource persons.
The series of events for BSS I Basic Surgery on Friday, September 15, 2023, began with introductions and the presentation of hopes and concerns about current phenomena by Dr. dr. Cut Meurah Yeni, Sp.O.G., Subsp. KFm as the Head of the FK USK Study Program and Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The event continued with a presentation of the training overview and the completion of initial questionnaires. Then, the program proceeded with a seminar divided into six chapters regarding Ethics in Obstetric and Gynecological Surgery, Principles of Infection Prevention, Nosocomial Infections, Hand Washing-Gloves and Gown, Surgical Needles and Threads, Surgical Instruments: Knife, Forceps, Clamp, Scissors, Needle Holder, Knots: Square, Surgeon Knot, Slip Knot, and Incisions: Elliptical/Linear.
On Saturday, September 16, 2023, the event commenced with the agenda reading by dr. Hilwah Nora, M.Med,Sci, ART, Sp.O.G. It was followed by a seminar event with materials on Hemostasis and Sharp Dissection, Repair and Anastomosis: Intestinal Injuries, Repair and Anastomosis: Urinary Tract Injuries, Episiotomy and Electrosurgery.
On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the event continued with the completion of questionnaires and the implementation of the OSCE. The event was concluded with the presentation of feedback, sharing of impressions and messages, closing remarks by the Head of the Study Program, and closing by the training director.
The goal of this activity was to convey basic principles and provide training in minor surgical techniques and procedures that every doctor can apply to develop their knowledge and skills in handling patients requiring surgical interventions. The entire series of events went smoothly and was attended by the FK USU PPDS representatives from the beginning to the end of the event.
