On Thursday–Saturday, September 7–9, 2023, a training event called "Basic Surgical Skill II (BSS II)" was held in Bali, attended by the FK USU Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) students. The event was organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Universitas Udayana. The purpose of this activity was to convey the basic principles and provide training in basic surgical techniques and procedures that every obgyn doctor can apply to enhance their knowledge and skills in managing patients requiring surgical interventions. The entire series of activities went smoothly and was attended by representatives of the FK USU PPDS students from the beginning to the end of the event.
On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the event started online at 08:00 Western Indonesia Time, with an opening by the committee head, the Head of the Study Program, and Prof. Dr. dr. Budi Iman Santoso, Sp.OG-K, as the Director of BSS training. The event continued with an overview of the training.
The schedule of the BSS II event began with the completion of initial questionnaires. The event proceeded with a presentation on the current obstacles and expectations regarding phenomena in the present time by Prof. Dr. dr. Budi Iman Santoso, Sp.OG-K, as the Director of BSS training. The event continued with an overview of the training and the completion of initial questionnaires. The program then continued with seminars divided into four chapters. The first chapter covered "Introduction to Gynecological Endoscopy & Operating Room Setting." The second chapter of the seminar was the material "Introduction to Gynecological Endoscopy Instruments," followed by the third section with the material "The Use of Energy Sources in Gynecological Endoscopy." The fourth chapter of the seminar was titled "Safety Entry and Pneumoperitoneum." The first day's activities concluded with a summary of the day's materials.
On Friday, September 8, 2023, the event started online at 08:00 Western Indonesia Time. The program started with the reading of the event agenda, followed by a seminar consisting of chapters five through seven. The fifth chapter covered "Diagnostic Laparoscopy." It was followed by the sixth chapter with the material title of "Operative Laparoscopy." The event concluded with the seventh-chapter seminar with the material "Complications in Gynecological Endoscopy."
On Saturday, September 9, 2023, the event was conducted offline and started at 07:30 Western Indonesia Time. It began with an explanation of the dry lab. It was followed by an explanation of electrosurgery. The event continued with a workshop divided into several stations. After the workshop sessions, a dry lab exam and a post-test were conducted. The event continued with a workshop session on "Dissection & Electrosurgery," which was divided into several stations. The event ended with a post-training evaluation and closing remarks by the Head of the Indonesian College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Kolegium Obstetri dan Ginekologi Indonesia or KOGI).
