The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), conducted an Evaluation of the Student Mentoring and Guidance Program for the 2026 Regional Medical Olympiad (RMO) on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Dean's Meeting Room of FK USU.
This evaluation activity formed part of FK USU's efforts to review the implementation of the student mentoring and guidance program during the 2026 RMO. The evaluation served as an opportunity to identify achievements, experiences, and various aspects that could serve as input for the development of student development programs for academic competitions in the future.

Mentoring and guidance programs play an important role in preparing students for academic competitions, not only by strengthening their mastery of subject matter but also by developing critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and readiness to face various challenges during competitions.
As a form of appreciation for their dedication, time, and contribution in mentoring students, FK USU also presented Certificates of Appreciation to the 2026 RMO Mentors. The awards served as an institutional expression of appreciation for the role of the mentors in supporting the development of students' potential and achievements.
This activity also reflects FK USU's commitment to supporting quality medical education oriented toward student development. This is in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, particularly in supporting improvements in education quality, competency development, and opportunities for students to develop their academic and non-academic abilities optimally.
Student development through academic competitions also forms part of efforts to prepare future healthcare professionals with competencies, critical thinking skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and development. In this context, the activity also supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through strengthening human resource capacity in the health sector, which is expected to contribute to improving the quality of healthcare services in the future.
Through continuous evaluation, mentoring, and appreciation, FK USU is committed to creating an academic ecosystem that supports students in developing their potential and achieving accomplishments. These efforts are expected to strengthen the academic culture while encouraging more FK USU students to participate and achieve success in various competitions at the regional, national, and international levels.
