The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), invited Heads of Departments and Heads of Study Programs, along with Department and Study Program Secretaries, to discuss the Priority Performance Indicators of the Work Unit and the signing of the 2025 Performance Contract. The meeting was held in the 1st Floor Meeting Room of the Faculty of Medicine, USU, on February 14, 2025.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K); Vice Dean I, Dr. dr. Delyuzar, M.Ked(PA), Sp.PA(K); Vice Dean II, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG(K); Vice Dean III, dr. Inke Nadia Diniyanti Lubis, PGDip PID, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A., Ph.D; as well as Heads of Departments, Heads of Study Programs, and Department and Study Program Secretaries.

The meeting was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K), who stated that four targets with 17 Priority Performance Indicators (IKP) were to be achieved through the signing of the new performance contract.

The formulation and implementation of these performance indicators are in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions through strengthening governance, accountability, transparency, and a structured institutional management system focused on achieving measurable performance.

Vice Dean III, dr. Inke Nadia Diniyanti Lubis, PGDip PID, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A., Ph.D., explained the progress of the Priority Performance Targets (IKP), which focus on improving graduate quality, cooperation and partnerships, achievements and reputation, as well as strengthening higher education management governance. Based on the 2024 USU and Faculty Performance Indicator achievements, the Faculty of Medicine had achieved or exceeded several established targets, including IKU 1 (graduates obtaining employment), with a target of 80% and an achievement of 100.77%. IKU 8 (international accreditation) had a target of 10%, while the Faculty of Medicine achieved 100%. Meanwhile, IKU 2 (high-achieving students) and IKU 5 (lecturer works) had not yet reached the targets set by the University.

Based on these data, Vice Dean III reminded lecturers to become more actively involved in mentoring students to participate in national and international competitions. The role of lecturers is not only as educators but also as mentors who guide students to become individuals with integrity, broad knowledge, and strong competitiveness.

Efforts to improve graduate quality and encourage student participation in various academic activities and competitions also support SDG 4: Quality Education. The role of lecturers as both educators and mentors is essential in creating a quality educational process while supporting the development of students’ competencies, character, and competitiveness.

Meanwhile, in order to achieve the World Class University (WCU) target, the Faculty of Medicine, USU, focuses on improving its reputation and making positive contributions by organizing guest lectures and inviting international practitioners, preparing national and international academic peers, conducting top scientist webinars, welcoming inbound students, and sending outbound students, among other initiatives.

The strengthening of academic cooperation, involvement of international practitioners and academics, and student mobility programs are in line with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through various national and international partnerships, the Faculty of Medicine, USU, seeks to expand academic networks, facilitate knowledge exchange, and strengthen the institution’s contribution to medical education at the global level.
