The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), Aldy Safruddin Rambe, emphasized that the Doctor’s Oath is not merely a ceremonial formality, but a moral and spiritual commitment that must be upheld throughout one’s lifetime. Newly inaugurated doctors are expected to consistently adhere to the medical code of ethics, comply with the law, continuously enhance their competencies through internships and the dynamic development of medical science, and be ready to serve wherever they are needed.

The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), once again held the Doctor Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony on Tuesday (10/02/2026). The ceremony took place at the 3rd Floor Auditorium Building of FK USU. A total of 21 medical graduates were inaugurated during the Doctor’s Oath Ceremony for Period II of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, consisting of 10 men and 11 women, with 14 Indonesian citizens and 7 international graduates.

The Doctor’s Oath was administered by the Vice Dean I of FK USU, Muara Panusunan Lubis, while the oath text was read by Andy Gunawan and solemnly followed by all newly inaugurated doctors.

In his address, Dean Aldy Safruddin Rambe reiterated that the Doctor’s Oath represents a lifelong moral and spiritual responsibility. He urged the new doctors to uphold integrity, professionalism, and dedication to public service, while continuously developing their medical knowledge and skills.

 

“The oath you have taken today is not merely words spoken aloud, but a lifelong commitment to maintaining integrity, professionalism, and service to society,” Prof. Aldy affirmed, encouraging graduates to become agents of change and to uphold the good name of their alma mater within the community.

 

He also expressed sincere appreciation to all parties who contributed to the medical education process and the acceptance of the graduates, including the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office, the President Director of RSUP H. Adam Malik, the President Director of RS Prof. dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis USU, RS dr. Pirngadi, the Head of the Kodam Military Hospital, the Director of RS Haji Medan, as well as various government and private institutions.

A representative of the newly inaugurated doctors also conveyed heartfelt gratitude to all lecturers and supervisors who guided them throughout their education. “We extend our deepest thanks to all lecturers and mentors who have educated, guided, and shaped us to reach this point. Our sincere gratitude also goes to our parents and families who continuously prayed for us and became our greatest source of strength,” the representative stated.
