Jakarta, September 3, 2026 — The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), participated in the Launch of New Study Program Selection at Main Teaching Hospitals for Specialist Medical Education (Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Penyelenggara Utama/RSPPU) and the Handover of Batch IV PPDS to RSPPU, organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Dr. J. Leimena Auditorium, Adhyatma Building, Ministry of Health, Jakarta.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, was one of the guests representing partner higher education institutions. On this occasion, the Dean of FK USU was represented by dr. O.K. Ilham Abdullah Irsyam, Sp.OT, CF, AIFO-K, Manager of Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization at FK USU.
The event was organized to support the sustainability and development of the Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) at Main Teaching Hospitals for Specialist Medical Education (RSPPU). The main agenda included the handover of Batch IV PPDS participants to RSPPU and the launch of the selection process for new basic specialist study programs and KJSU (Cancer, Heart, Stroke, and Urology-Nephrology) programs for RSPPU Batch V.
The event also featured a report on the implementation of RSPPU, a keynote speech by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) International, testimonials from Batch IV PPDS participants, and the formal handover of PPDS participants, marked by the symbolic signing of employment contracts between PPDS participants and RSPPU, as well as a symbolic ID card presentation.
FK USU’s participation in this event is aligned with its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, through support for strengthening medical education and developing healthcare human resources. The development of specialist medical education programs at RSPPU is expected to contribute to increasing the availability of competent specialist physicians and ultimately support improvements in the quality of healthcare services for the community.
FK USU’s participation in the event reflects the institution’s commitment to supporting the strengthening of specialist medical education and enhancing synergy among higher education institutions, the Ministry of Health, and teaching hospitals in developing high-quality healthcare human resources.
Through its participation in the event, FK USU continues to foster opportunities for collaboration and strengthen the strategic role of higher education institutions in supporting the development of the specialist medical education system in Indonesia.
