Prof. Rusly explained that lifestyle medicine is a rapidly emerging field in line with the growing public demand for health and wellness. He also presented various studies he has conducted in the field and encouraged students of the Faculty of Medicine USU to consider lifestyle medicine as a research topic.

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Doctoral Program in Medical Science, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), held a guest lecture titled “Transforming Healthcare: The Imperative of Lifestyle Medicine Education.” The lecture featured Prof. Rusly Harsono, MD, MSc, MBA, FAAP, DipABLM, from the Stanford University School of Medicine, California, United States.

 

 

 

The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K), moderated by the Head of the Doctoral Program in Medical Science of FK USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Rusda, M.Ked.(O.G.), Sp.O.G., Subsp.F.E.R. The guest lecture was primarily attended by first- and second-year students of the Doctoral Program in Medical Science of FK USU. 

 

 

 

In his presentation, Prof. Rusly explained that lifestyle medicine is a rapidly emerging field in line with the growing public demand for health and wellness. He also presented various studies he has conducted in the field and encouraged students of FK USU to consider lifestyle medicine as a research topic.

 

 

 

Furthermore, Prof. Rusly offered his support should FK USU wish to develop lifestyle medicine as a specialization within the study program or faculty. The Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences FK USU warmly welcomed the offer. As an initial follow-up, lifestyle medicine is planned to be included in the Global Health course, which will begin in the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year.
