The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), held a series of activities for the peak of its 74th Anniversary celebration on Sunday, September 20, 2026. One of the activities that enlivened the series was the opening of the Nusantara Bazaar Area, located in the FK USU parking lot.

The Nusantara Bazaar was officially opened by the Dean of FK USU, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.K.Fm, together with the FK USU leadership. The activity was also accompanied by the Chairperson of the 74th Anniversary Committee of FK USU, Dr. dr. Tasrif Hamdi, M.Ked(An), Sp.An-TI, Subsp. MN(K). The ribbon-cutting ceremony officially marked the beginning of the Nusantara Bazaar as part of the peak activities of the 74th Anniversary of FK USU.

The Nusantara Bazaar served as a space that brought together various elements within FK USU with local business owners. The activity was participated in by departments within FK USU as well as a number of local MSMEs in Medan, with a total of 20 booths featuring a variety of products and culinary offerings.

Carrying a Nusantara concept, each booth featured products and decorations representing the richness of Indonesian cuisine and cultural diversity from Sabang to Merauke. This diversity was reflected not only in the various food and beverage options offered but also through the creativity of participants in showcasing regional identities through their respective booth decorations.

In addition to being part of the 74th Anniversary celebration, the Nusantara Bazaar served as a platform for interaction and collaboration between the FK USU academic community, the public, and local MSMEs. The activity created opportunities for participants to interact with one another, introduce their products, and build networks that could support sustainable cooperation in the future.

The involvement of local MSMEs from Medan also supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, which promotes inclusive and sustainable economic growth and the creation of productive employment opportunities. The presence of MSMEs at the Nusantara Bazaar provided business owners with opportunities to introduce their products, reach new consumers, and expand their business networks within FK USU.

On the other hand, the activity is also in line with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through the involvement of various departments within FK USU together with local MSMEs in one series of activities. This collaboration demonstrates the importance of partnerships between educational institutions and the community in creating activities that provide mutual benefits while supporting the strengthening of the local economic ecosystem.

The Nusantara Bazaar is an activity that not only enriches the series of activities commemorating the 74th Anniversary of FK USU but also strengthens the spirit of togetherness, diversity, and collaboration. Through this activity, FK USU continues to provide opportunities for positive interaction between the academic community and the public while supporting the involvement of local partners in various institutional activities.

The series of activities for the peak of the 74th Anniversary of FK USU is expected to serve as a momentum to strengthen relationships among the academic community, strengthen networks with the public, and encourage sustainable collaboration in supporting the advancement of the institution and its surrounding environment.
