Every year, the Faculty of Medicine of the Universitas Sumatera Utara carries out celebrations and activities to commemorate the 71st Anniversary of FK USU, with the theme "Unlimited Level in Ophthalmological Science (ULOS)". This activity was held at the USU Faculty of Medicine Field. From July to August, various agendas include sports activities, arts, and social services attended by 700 participants, scientific workshops inviting speakers from Singapore, and bazaars. The series of events contains activities to enliven the anniversary of the largest campus outside Java Island.
USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin S.Sos., M.Si., said that the age of FK USU which is the same as the age of USU, which is 71 reflects the achievements of USU because FK USU performance has a positive impact on the overall achievement of the university.
In his remarks, the Dean of FK USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe Sp.S (K), explained that the academic community of FK USU must be determined to unite to realize the vision and mission related to internationalization. The key to success is with the active support of all parties, including alumni and other stakeholders. Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe Sp.S (K), also added that the Eye Health Science Study Program as the FK USU Anniversary committee this year, took the initiative to focus on eye health. This aims to improve eye health in Indonesian society optimally.
Committee Chairman of the 71st Anniversary of FK USU Dr. dr. Masitha Dewi Sari, M.Ked (Oph), Sp.M (K), revealed that Bazaar activity at the FK USU Anniversary event aims to strengthen the relationship with alumni through interactions that strengthen relationships as part of a collective effort towards greater achievement.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the FK USU Alumni, represented by Dr. dr. M. Rusda, M.k.ed (OG), Sp.OG (K) admitted that the FK USU Alumni Association is committed to assisting the academic and non-academic activities of FK USU. In September, the FK USU Alumni Association will collaborate with FK USU for a fun walk event and will contribute to improving USU's reputation.
