Medan, September 4, 2026 – The strong ties between the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), and its alumni continue to grow through various activities that strengthen the relationship between the alma mater and its alumni community. One such initiative was demonstrated by the FK USU Class of 2001 alumni, who held a meeting with the Dean of FK USU as part of preparations for an upcoming activity to be held within the FK USU environment.

The meeting was led by dr. Montesquieu Silalahi, Sp.Onk.Rad(K), Chair of the FK USU Class of 2001 Alumni Committee. The meeting provided an opportunity for the committee to present its activity plans while coordinating with the faculty to ensure that the entire series of events could be carried out properly and smoothly.
During the meeting, the Class of 2001 alumni presented plans to organize a campus tour within the FK USU environment, scheduled for September 19, 2026. The activity is expected to provide an opportunity for alumni to revisit their alma mater, reminisce about their experiences during their medical education, and strengthen relationships among fellow alumni and the academic community of FK USU.
The planned campus tour is also part of an effort to rekindle the emotional connection between alumni and the academic environment that once played an important role in their educational and professional journeys. Through this activity, alumni are expected to reminisce about their time at FK USU while also observing the continued development of facilities and the academic environment at the faculty.

The meeting with the Dean of FK USU served as an initial step in preparing for the activity so that it can proceed according to plan. Coordination between the alumni committee and the faculty is expected to support the success of the event, both in terms of technical implementation and the series of activities planned during the visit.
This spirit is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals, particularly in building and strengthening sustainable partnerships between educational institutions and their alumni networks. The collaboration is expected to provide benefits not only to FK USU and its alumni but also to society at large.
