Medan, 27 June 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), in collaboration with BPJS Kesehatan, successfully organized the 2026 Fun Run 5K on Saturday (27/6/2026) at the Faculty of Medicine USU. The event served as a platform to promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle while strengthening collaboration among institutions in supporting the improvement of public health.

The event was held enthusiastically and attended by the FK USU academic community, the BPJS Kesehatan family, healthcare professionals, and members of the public. Also in attendance were the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, USU, and the entire faculty leadership, dr. Abdi Kurniawan Purba, MKM, Sp. A(K), Subsp. A.A.(K), Director of Health Service Assurance at BPJS Kesehatan, accompanied by the leadership of BPJS Kesehatan Medan Branch, as well as the President Director of Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis USU Teaching Hospital (RSP) and his team.

The series of activities began with a warm-up exercise before participants completed the 5-kilometer running route, which started and finished at the Faculty of Medicine USU. Participants' enthusiasm was evident throughout the event, reflecting a strong commitment to adopting an active and healthy lifestyle.
As a symbol of the close partnership between the two institutions, the event also featured a plaque exchange between the Faculty of Medicine USU and BPJS Kesehatan. This moment represented the commitment of both institutions to strengthening cooperation in education, healthcare services, and the development of various promotive and preventive programs that benefit the wider community.

After all participants completed the race, the organizing committee announced the Top 3 Runners who recorded the fastest times in the competition category. The winners received prizes in recognition of their sportsmanship and achievements during the 2026 Fun Run 5K.
The event became even more festive with the distribution of various attractive door prizes through a lucky draw. In addition to serving as a sporting and social gathering event, the activity also provided free health services from BPJS Kesehatan, including blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid screenings, allowing participants to take advantage of early detection services and increase their awareness of the importance of maintaining good health.
Through the organization of the 2026 Fun Run 5K, FK USU and BPJS Kesehatan reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuously promoting a healthy lifestyle through physical activity while strengthening cross-institutional synergy in support of health development in Indonesia.

This activity is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the promotion of healthy lifestyles and increased public awareness of disease prevention, as well as SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among educational institutions, the national health insurance provider, the teaching hospital, and various partners in implementing sustainable health programs.
The Faculty of Medicine USU expressed its appreciation and gratitude to all participants, the organizing committee, and everyone who supported the successful implementation of this event.
