Medan, 11 August 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held its 73rd anniversary celebration with a series of activities including a Fun Walk, bazaar, and carnival, which took place vibrantly on the FK USU campus on Sunday (August 11). This year’s celebration was themed “Together Building Indonesia’s Golden Generation.”

 

On this occasion, the Secretary of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.F.E.R., representing the Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., extended congratulations on the 73rd anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine at USU. He emphasized that over the past seven decades, the USU Faculty of Medicine has made significant contributions by producing outstanding healthcare professionals and graduates who uphold the values of integrity, empathy, and dedication. According to him, the bazaar and carnival activities reflect unity, creativity, and social responsibility that can drive the local economy.

 

“This event symbolizes the spirit of mutual respect, support, and strengthening one another. May this Dies Natalis anniversary provide new energy for the entire academic community of the USU Faculty of Medicine to continue progressing. Because great achievements can only be realized through collective effort,” he said.

 

The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldi Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K), also noted that over the past year, the Faculty of Medicine has shown significant improvement, both through national and international collaborations, as well as various achievements by staff and students at the national level. He added that the USU Faculty of Medicine is currently preparing to launch three new study programs, targeted to begin in 2026.

 

The Chair of the Organizing Committee, Dr. dr. Bugis Mardina Lubis M.Ked(Ped)., Sp.A(K), stated that this celebration was not only enlivened by a Fun Walk and carnival but also featured artistic performances, competitions, and the participation of 32 bazaar vendors from various departments within the USU Faculty of Medicine. She expressed gratitude to the alumni, Bank Mestika, and PTPN IV for their support in organizing this event.

 

With the spirit of unity and innovation, this Dies Natalis is expected to encourage the USU Faculty of Medicine to continue contributing to the development of medical science and public health services, both at the national and international levels, and to become even more solid and strengthen its role as one of the important pillars of Universitas Sumatera Utara in achieving its goal of becoming a World Class University.
