The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), has once again achieved a proud accomplishment at the international level. A delegation of FK USU students secured a Bronze Medal at the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx) 2026, held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The FK USU delegation consisting of Ayesha Zahira Afhamy, Bintang Aly Zacky, Jhosua Claudio Sinurat, Muhammad Shadia, Ratu Salsabila, and Winda Chairunnur Hamid successfully impressed the panel of judges with their innovation titled HYURA (Hydrogel Natural). This innovation is a natural herbal-based product designed to aid muscle recovery and prevent complications resulting from muscle fatigue, making it highly applicable in the medical and health fields.
This achievement reflects the creativity, dedication, and innovative spirit of FK USU students in developing health solutions grounded in science and technology. Winning an award at this international event further strengthens FK USU’s position as a medical education institution that actively contributes on the global stage.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K), expressed his appreciation and pride for this achievement.
“This achievement is proof that FK USU students are capable of competing at the international level with innovations that are practical and have a real impact on the health sector. We hope this accomplishment will serve as motivation for the entire academic community to continue innovating, collaborating, and bringing the name of FK USU and Universitas Sumatera Utara to the global level,” he stated.
The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, remains committed to continuously encouraging and facilitating students in research and innovation development, as well as participation in international scientific forums and competitions.
