Medan, August 12, 2026 — The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), held a meeting between the faculty leadership and parents of new students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Fourth-Floor Auditorium of FK USU. The meeting served as a platform for communication and engagement between the faculty and parents to provide an understanding of the educational process, academic regulations, and students' academic life at FK USU.
The event began with remarks from the Dean of FK USU, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G., Subsp.K.Fm. In his remarks, the Dean emphasized the importance of synergy between the faculty and parents in supporting students' success throughout their medical education.

The activity also supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education through FK USU's efforts to ensure that students receive adequate information and understanding of the applicable educational system and regulations. Providing academic information to students and parents is part of the effort to create an inclusive, structured, and high-quality educational process.
The meeting continued with a presentation on academic regulations delivered by the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Medicine (KPS PSPD) FK USU, Prof. dr. Rina Amelia, MARS, Sp.KKLP, Ph.D. The presentation provided parents with an overview of various academic regulations, the learning process, and important matters that students need to understand throughout their education at FK USU.
The meeting was followed by a question-and-answer session involving the Head and Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Medicine (SPS PSPD), together with the parents of new students. The session provided an opportunity for parents to raise questions, receive direct clarification, and gain a deeper understanding of the academic aspects that students will encounter.
The interaction between the faculty and parents also aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, particularly through the development of effective partnerships and communication between the educational institution and students' families. The synergy established through this engagement is expected to strengthen support for students throughout their education while creating a more collaborative learning environment.
Through this activity, FK USU reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open, informative, and sustainable communication with students' parents. Synergy among the faculty, students, and families is expected to play an important role in supporting the smooth implementation of education and in preparing competent, professional, and integrity-driven medical graduates who can contribute meaningfully to society.
