Medan, June 8, 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), welcomed a delegation from Dr. Pirngadi Medan Regional Hospital (RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Kota Medan) to discuss preparations for its designation as a Main Teaching Hospital (Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Penyelenggara Utama – RSPPU). The meeting was held in the Dean’s Meeting Room at FK USU on Monday, June 8, 2026.

The meeting served as a follow-up to the document verification process currently being undertaken by Dr. Pirngadi Medan Regional Hospital in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia regarding its RSPPU designation. Through this discussion, both institutions explored various requirements and preparations needed to support the implementation of high-quality specialist medical education.

The delegation from Dr. Pirngadi Medan Regional Hospital was welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG., Subsp.K.Fm., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations; the Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure; and the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization.

The meeting took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere, focusing on strategic initiatives to strengthen collaboration between the hospital and the academic institution. In his remarks, the Dean of FK USU expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to supporting the development of teaching hospitals capable of meeting established academic and healthcare service standards.

“FK USU warmly welcomes and fully supports the efforts of Dr. Pirngadi Medan Regional Hospital in its process of becoming a Main Teaching Hospital. Strong collaboration between educational institutions and hospitals is a vital foundation for producing competent, professional specialist physicians who can meet the healthcare needs of the community,” said Dr. Muara.

Meanwhile, the Director of Dr. Pirngadi Medan Regional Hospital expressed gratitude for the warm reception and support provided by FK USU. He emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen the partnership to support improvements in specialist medical education and healthcare services in the city of Medan.

Through this meeting, both FK USU and Dr. Pirngadi Medan Regional Hospital hope to enhance coordination and collaboration in supporting the RSPPU designation process and advancing medical education that prioritizes academic excellence, patient safety, and the healthcare needs of the community.
