Medan, August 4, 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), conducted an official visit to Haji Medan Hospital on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen cooperation and improve coordination in healthcare services, education, and healthcare human resource development.
The FK USU delegation was led by the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara: Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof. dr. Ayodhia Pitaloka Pasaribu, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A(K), Ph.D(CTM); Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure, Prof. Dr. dr. Dedy Hermansyah, Sp.B. Subsp.Onk(K); and Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M.Gizi, Sp.GK, Subsp.PK, accompanied by the Manager for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization of FK USU, dr. O.K. Ilham Abdullah Irsyam, Sp.OT, CF, AIFO-K., as well as the Secretary of the PPDS Coordination Team, several Heads of Study Programs, and the FK USU Cooperation Team. The delegation was directly welcomed by the Director of Haji Medan Hospital, dr. Yulinda Elvi Nasution, M.Kes., together with the hospital's management team.
The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere marked by a strong spirit of collaboration. Both parties discussed various strategic opportunities for cooperation, ranging from strengthening healthcare services and developing medical education to conducting research and implementing community service programs. The meeting also served as an opportunity to strengthen coordination between educational institutions and hospitals in addressing the evolving challenges of healthcare delivery.
This commitment is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, through strengthened collaboration to improve the quality of healthcare services and develop professional, competent healthcare personnel who are responsive to community needs.
The meeting was followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and Haji Medan Hospital. The signing marks an important milestone in strengthening the partnership between the two institutions as a foundation for implementing collaborative programs in education, research, healthcare services, and healthcare human resource development. Through the MoA, FK USU and Haji Medan Hospital are committed to optimizing their respective institutional potential to support improvements in healthcare service quality while producing graduates who are prepared to meet the challenges of the medical field.
The collaboration between FK USU and Haji Medan Hospital represents an implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes the importance of strategic partnerships among institutions in creating a sustainable ecosystem for education and healthcare services. This synergy is expected to generate programs with broad impacts on improving the quality of healthcare services and advancing medical education in North Sumatra.
