The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), in collaboration with Universitas Sumatera Utara Hospital (RS USU) and USU Peduli, carried out integrated healthcare services and distributed clean water and essential medicines for affected communities on Thursday, 11 December 2025.

The activities were conducted at the Regent’s Command Post and Aneska Café, which were designated as temporary healthcare service posts. This initiative reflects the institution’s concern for community health conditions and USU’s commitment to responding swiftly to emergency needs on the ground.

The healthcare services provided included general medical examinations, basic medical treatment, health consultations, and the distribution of medicines tailored to the needs and complaints of community members. In addition, the team distributed clean water to help meet residents’ basic needs. All services were delivered in a coordinated manner by medical personnel and volunteers, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and targeted service delivery.

To support the smooth implementation of activities and the recovery of supporting facilities, the USU PSI Team played an active role by installing generators and Starlink communication devices in Sekumur Village. This installation aimed to ensure a stable electricity supply and reliable communication access, enabling healthcare services, team coordination, and aid distribution to operate effectively.

The presence of these supporting facilities is expected to enhance the effectiveness of field operations, particularly in post-disaster settings where infrastructure is limited. Through this initiative, FK USU, together with RS USU, USU Peduli, and all partners, hopes to make a tangible contribution to helping communities maintain their health, accelerate recovery processes, and strengthen the resilience of healthcare services in disaster-affected areas.
