The delegation of the Faculty of Medicine USU achieved notable accomplishments at the ISMKI Regional Medical Olympiad (RMO) Region 1, held at Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI), Palembang, on September 26, 2026. In the competition, FK USU students received four awards in various fields of medical science.
The achievements were earned in the Neuropsychiatry, Digestive, Musculoskeletal, and Genitourinary competitions. In the Neuropsychiatry category, Nadia Chairunnisa and Naomi Susanti Sinabang won First Place. Meanwhile, Muhammad Fachrul Zakwan Siregar and Daniel Hezkila Sianipar won Second Place in the Digestive category.
In the Musculoskeletal category, Muhammad Farid Ardan Nugroho and Afiq Triyandi Hakam won Third Place. These achievements demonstrate the readiness of FK USU students to apply medical knowledge through academic competitions that test their abilities, precision, and teamwork.

Participation in academic competitions such as the RMO is also part of efforts to strengthen student capacity in the health sector. Mastery of medical science during education is expected to develop prospective health professionals who possess competencies and a commitment to improving the quality of public health. This is in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, which promotes improvements in public health and well-being through strengthening human resources in the health sector.
From an educational perspective, the achievements of FK USU students reflect the importance of an academic environment that encourages the development of students' potential, competencies, and learning experiences. Medical olympiad activities provide students with opportunities to deepen their knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, and collaborate with medical students from various institutions. These efforts are in line with SDG 4: Quality Education, particularly in supporting the provision of quality, inclusive, and competency-oriented education.
The success of the four FK USU student teams at the ISMKI RMO Region 1 also serves as motivation to continue developing an academic culture and a culture of achievement within FK USU. This accomplishment is expected to inspire other students to actively participate in academic activities, competitions, and self-development as part of the process of preparing competent and adaptive prospective doctors who can contribute to the advancement of the health sector.
