Medan – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU) women's volleyball team delivered an impressive performance in the Group A preliminary round of the volleyball tournament held to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. With two consecutive victories, the team has significantly strengthened its chances of advancing to the next stage of the competition.
The team's first victory came on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, when FK USU faced the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (Fasilkom-TI) USU at the Faculty of Psychology Volleyball Court. Displaying confidence from the opening serve, the FK USU women's team controlled the match through disciplined play, strong teamwork, and high spirits, ultimately defeating Fasilkom-TI 2–0.

On the following day, Wednesday, July 29, 2026, FK USU was scheduled to compete against the Directorate of Academic Infrastructure Management (Dit. PIA) USU at the same venue. However, the match was not played because the opposing team did not appear, resulting in a walkover (WO) victory for FK USU in accordance with the tournament regulations.
These back-to-back victories provide valuable momentum as the FK USU women's volleyball team prepares for its remaining Group A preliminary matches. The results also demonstrate the team's readiness, strong cohesion, and unwavering determination to represent the Faculty of Medicine USU with excellence in this inter-unit sporting event.
Beyond the pursuit of athletic achievement, the volleyball tournament serves as a platform to strengthen camaraderie, promote sportsmanship, and foster collaboration among faculties and administrative units across Universitas Sumatera Utara as part of the celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
