MEDAN — To minimize the risk of trauma to healthy mucosa during laryngeal surgery, the Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), once again held one of its flagship academic activities, the Visiting Professor program. The event was held at the First-Floor Lecture Room, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, on August 8–9, 2026.
The academic forum featured an international expert, Associate Professor Dr. Mawaddah Azman from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and was attended by lecturers, Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery specialists, and resident doctors. The forum explored the crucial topic of Precise Tissue Manipulation.

The training and presentations were delivered interactively through visual analyses of endoscopic procedures and discussions on clinical management. Participants learned how to perform careful and accurate tissue manipulation in the vocal cord area to prevent secondary structural damage that could adversely affect patients.
The academic activity, which took place in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere, concluded with a question-and-answer session and a group photo with all members of the academic community. This program is expected to consistently produce competent Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery specialists with a high level of surgical precision.
