The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), welcomed a visit from the management of Haji Medan General Hospital (RSU Haji Medan) on Friday, September 4, 2026. Held in the Dean’s Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor of FK USU, the meeting was part of the follow-up to the collaboration established between FK USU and RSU Haji Medan, particularly following the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the two institutions on August 4, 2026, at RSU Haji Medan.
The visit was attended by the Director of RSU Haji Medan, dr. Yulinda Elvi Nst, M.Kes, accompanied by the Deputy Director for General Affairs and Human Resources Development, Ridesman, SKM, SH, M.Kes, MH, FISQua, Head of the Human Resources Development Division, drg. Afridha Arwi, and Head of the Education and Training Subdivision, dr. Yanda Ardanta, M.Kes.
Representing FK USU, the meeting was attended by the Dean of FK USU, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG, Subsp.K.Fm, together with the Vice Deans, Cooperation Manager, and relevant representatives within the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The meeting served as an important momentum to strengthen communication and coordination between the two institutions in implementing the agreed-upon collaboration.
Previously, FK USU and RSU Haji Medan had strengthened their partnership through the signing of a cooperation agreement covering collaborative development in healthcare services, medical education, research, community service, and health human resource development. The agreement provides a foundation for both institutions to optimize their respective potential and resources in supporting improvements in the quality of healthcare services and health education.
The collaboration is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, through joint efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services, health workforce education, and the development of competent and professional human resources.
During the follow-up meeting, both parties discussed strategic steps to optimize the implementation of the PKS, including strengthening collaboration in education and training, human resource development, and other potential areas of cooperation that could provide mutual benefits for both institutions.
Synergy between medical education institutions and hospitals plays an important role in creating a sustainable healthcare ecosystem. Through closer collaboration, FK USU and RSU Haji Medan are expected to contribute to improving the competencies of healthcare professionals while supporting the enhancement of healthcare services for the community.
Furthermore, strengthening institutional relations between FK USU and RSU Haji Medan also represents an implementation of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes the importance of strategic partnerships among institutions in achieving sustainable development goals. This partnership is expected to go beyond the signing of a cooperation agreement and continue to develop into concrete programs that generate positive impacts on education, healthcare services, research, and society.
