Medan, 1 July 2026 – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially inaugurated the Heads and Secretaries of Departments, as well as the Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs within the Faculty of Medicine (FK) USU, in a formal ceremony held at the USU Student Center on Wednesday (1 July).

The inauguration forms part of Universitas Sumatera Utara's ongoing efforts to strengthen organizational governance, enhance the quality of academic leadership, and support the development of higher education that is responsive to global challenges.
The ceremony was attended by the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara and members of the university leadership, deans, directors, heads of institutions, members of the academic community, and the families of the newly inaugurated officials.
In his remarks, the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara emphasized that academic leadership is not merely an administrative responsibility, but a position of trust that requires integrity, professionalism, and the ability to lead meaningful change within the university.
The Rector further stated that the Heads and Secretaries of Departments, as well as the Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, play a strategic role in maintaining the quality of the university's Tri Dharma missions. Therefore, all newly appointed officials are expected to foster strong collaboration, introduce innovations in academic governance, and ensure continuous improvement in the quality of education, research, community engagement, and student services.

During the ceremony, the Heads and Secretaries of Departments and Study Programs of the Faculty of Medicine took their oath of office and received their official appointment decrees, reaffirming their commitment to carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to them.
The inauguration is expected to serve as a momentum for strengthening synergy among academic units within the Faculty of Medicine USU in creating an academic governance system that is excellent, innovative, and focused on improving graduate quality. The new leadership is also expected to promote the development of adaptive curricula, strengthen research collaboration, improve both national and international accreditation achievements, and expand partnerships with various strategic stakeholders.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, together with the entire academic community, extended congratulations to all newly inaugurated officials. It is hoped that they will carry out their responsibilities with dedication, integrity, and a strong spirit of service in advancing the Faculty of Medicine USU as a leading, globally competitive medical education institution that makes meaningful contributions to the improvement of public health.
This inauguration represents another strategic step in strengthening academic leadership within the Faculty of Medicine USU while reaffirming the institution's commitment to fostering innovation, enhancing the quality of educational services, and producing professional, ethical, and globally competitive graduates who are well prepared to address future challenges in the healthcare sector.
