“The Faculty of Medicine at USU must become an institution that is adaptive to change, excel in education and research, and capable of delivering tangible impact to society through high-quality healthcare services. This is a shared responsibility that we will carry out with full integrity and dedication,” said Dr. dr. Muara, Dean for the 2026–2031 period.
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially inaugurated the leadership of its Faculty of Medicine in a solemn ceremony held at the USU Student Center on Monday (May 4, 2026). The inauguration appointed Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.K.Fm as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, accompanied by Vice Dean I, Prof. dr. Ayodhia Pitaloka Pasaribu, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A(K), Ph.D (CTM); Vice Dean II, Prof. Dr. dr. Dedy Hermansyah, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk(K); and Vice Dean III, Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M.Gizi, Sp.GK, Subsp.PK.
In his remarks, the Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si, emphasized that the dynamics of global change require higher education institutions to continuously adapt and innovate. Technological advancements, climate change issues, and various forms of global disruption pose real challenges that must be addressed through swift, precise, and future-oriented strategies.
“Change is not something to be avoided, but rather a challenge to be responded to constructively by providing the best possible solutions. An adaptive and progressive mindset is key to maintaining institutional relevance and competitiveness amid ongoing transformation,” he added.
For the Faculty of Medicine, this inauguration is not merely ceremonial, but also reflects a strong commitment to strengthening innovative, collaborative, and excellence-driven academic leadership. The newly appointed leadership is expected to enhance the performance of the tridharma of higher education, improve the quality of education and healthcare services, and help elevate the Faculty of Medicine’s reputation at both national and global levels.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked (OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.
