Thursday, July 20, 2023. At the Hall of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU) received a visit from the Indonesian Medical Council (KKI) team again for feasibility assessment of opening a Subspecialist Medical Education Program (Subspecialist) in Internal Medicine. Also present were Vice Rector IV for Information, Planning, and Development of USU Prof. Dr. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of USU Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe Sp.S (K). and Vice Dean I Dr. dr. Delyuzar, M.Ked (PA), Sp.PA (K). and other academicians.

On this occasion, USU Vice Chancellor IV for Information, Planning, and Development Prof. Dr. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc., revealed that this Subspecialist Program is to produce third professional degree personnel, continuing Internal Medicine Specialist Education. Previously, the Subspecialist Education Program was opened by the USU Rector on September 17, 2020. VR IV explained that this visit itself is a stage that must be carried out to ensure that the USU Faculty of Medicine Subspecialist Medical Education Program is ready to carry out professional education. Prof. Dr. Opim Salim Sitompul, MSc, hopes that the results of the visit to USU Faculty of Medicine Subspecialist Education Program will receive the best assessment.
Meanwhile, the FK USU Subspecialist Medical Education Program has made various preparations to anticipate this visitation. Dean of FK USU Prof. Dr. Dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S (K), admitted that he had prepared a number of documents needed by the councilors. After this visit, the Subspecialist Doctor Education Program will make improvements in accordance with the councilors' input to advance this education program.
One of the councilors, Dr. Mariatul Fadilah, MARS, Sp. KKLP, PhD., explained that this visit highlighted the process, from the teachers to the supporting facilities for education. According to him, the councilors must protect the community in order to get competent doctor services.
