As part of an emergency response to the flooding that affected Aceh Tamiang Regency, the Primary Care Family Medicine Specialist Training Program (PPDS KKLP) of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), carried out a community service activity on Friday, 13 December 2025.

The activity was centered in Dusun Tupuh Bawah, Cempaka Village, Kuala Simpang District, with the main objective of ensuring the health conditions of flood survivors and assisting in meeting the basic needs of affected communities. In its implementation, PPDS KKLP FK USU collaborated with the Indonesian Association of Family Medicine Specialists (PDSKKI) North Sumatra Branch as a partner institution.

Through this activity, the team delivered Mobile Clinic services focused on general health check-ups, medical treatment, and wound care management resulting from flood-related conditions. In addition to medical services, the team also distributed social assistance in the form of ready-to-eat food, drinks, baby logistics, and nutritious food supplies to support the fulfillment of basic needs during the post-disaster recovery phase.

The community service activity was directly supervised by the Head of the Primary Care Family Medicine Specialist Program FK USU, dr. Putri Chairani Eyanoer, M.S.Epi., Ph.D., FISPH, FISCM, Sp.KKLP, along with lecturers of the KKLP Study Program FK USU, including the Chair of the Flood Disaster Task Force Implementation Team within FK USU, Dr. dr. Yetty Machrina, M.Kes., AIFO-K, Sp.KKLP, Subsp.FOMC.

Through the presence of the KKLP FK USU medical team at the affected location, this activity is expected to make a tangible contribution to the recovery of the community’s physical health, while also supporting the sustainable fulfillment of basic needs for flood survivors. This initiative also reflects FK USU’s commitment to fulfilling its role in community service, particularly in disaster response situations.
