Medan, September 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), held the 2026 New Student Management (MMB) program under the theme “Igniting Potential, Forging Tomorrow.” The activity was held on September 5, 6, and 12, 2026, at the Abdul Hakim Building Hall, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
MMB FK USU 2026 serves as one of the development programs for new students to become more familiar with the academic environment, build character, and develop leadership potential and organizational skills. Through a series of interactive and inspiring activities, students are encouraged to become a generation of prospective doctors who are not only academically excellent but also possess communication, collaboration, leadership, and community awareness skills.
MMB FK USU 2026 was opened by the Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. dr. Ayodhia Pitaloka Pasaribu, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A(K), Ph.D(CTM). In the opening session, new students were motivated to make the most of their education at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, as an opportunity to develop themselves, build networks, and prepare to face the challenges of the medical profession in the future.
Also delivering remarks was the Physician in Charge of MMB FK USU, dr. Rizki Indah Putri Lubis, MHPE, FFRI, who emphasized the importance of MMB as part of the process of introducing and shaping the character of new students. Through this activity, students are expected to recognize their potential while developing a professional attitude from the beginning of their medical education.
The MMB FK USU 2026 series featured various activities designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience. One of these was the Forum Group Discussion (FGD), which served as a space for students to exchange ideas, develop critical thinking skills, and build teamwork in addressing various issues.
In addition, students received leadership materials aimed at developing their ability to lead themselves and others. The activity also featured an inspiring talk show that provided new students with perspectives and motivation regarding their educational journey, self-development, and the challenges they may face during their medical education. Meanwhile, materials on research and community service introduced students to the important role of prospective doctors in generating knowledge and making tangible contributions to improving public health.
The implementation of MMB FK USU 2026 is in line with the commitment of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through education and student development programs that support the development of competencies, character, and 21st-century skills. Strengthening leadership, collaboration, research, and community service is also an important part of preparing students to make positive contributions to society and health development in the future.
With the spirit of “Igniting Potential, Forging Tomorrow,” MMB FK USU 2026 is expected to serve as an initial step for new students to ignite their potential, build professional character, and prepare for their future as excellent and integrity-driven medical professionals who contribute to the advancement of the nation.
