The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), had a valuable opportunity to hold a public lecture organized by BPJS Kesehatan Medan Branch. This public lecture, held in the 3rd-floor hall of FK USU, featured dr. Donny Hendrawan, M.P.H., Deputy Director of Research, Innovation, and Development of BPJS Kesehatan.
This activity was attended by the Dean of the USU Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S (K), accompanied by the Vice Dean I of the USU Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Delyuzar, M.Ked (PA), Sp.PA (K), Head of the Biomedical Sciences Masters Study Program, Dr. rer. medic. dr. M. Ichwan, M.Sc, Sp.KKLP, Subsp.FOMC.., Deputy Director for Research, Innovation and Development of BPJS Kesehatan, dr. Donny Hendrawan, M.P.H, Head of BPJS Kesehatan Medan Branch, dr. Yasmine Ramadhana Harahap, MM, AAAK, and Assistant Deputy for Research on National Health Insurance, Arif Budiman, S.Kep., Ners, M.P.H.
The event was opened by the MC and continued with remarks from the Dean of the USU Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S (K). “On this occasion, we have the arrival of one of the Deputy Directors for Research, Innovation, and Development of BPJS Health, dr. Donny Hendrawan, M.P.H., and what makes us all proud is that he is an alumnus of FK USU class of 1991,” said Prof. Aldy to the participants.
We hope our young doctors can gain knowledge directly from the source, namely the Deputy Director of Health—hopefully, the presentation by dr. Donny can have a positive impact and significant benefits for all of us. My message is to open the insights of these young doctors after graduation; your expertise is not only as a specialist, but there are many roles that we can take, one of which is in BUMN, or even in politics. The goal is that we can color the rules that govern the world of health, “he added.
The event proceeded with an exchange of plaques between BPJS Kesehatan and the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, by dr. Donny Hendrawan, M.P.H. from BPJS Health and Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S (K). from the USU Faculty of Medicine. Then, it was followed by mangulosi ceremony carried out by Dr. dr. Delyuzar, M.Ked (PA), Sp.PA (K), to the speakers as memento of the occasion.

The public lecture opened with a video of a pregnant woman who wanted to give birth at the puskesmas but was hindered by some unfulfilled files. This relates to the theme of this public lecture, Social Health Insurance. Then, Dr. Donny asked the participants to explain what points they got after seeing the video.
The public lecture participants enthusiastically conveyed various important points related to the video that had been watched together. One of the participants conveyed the role of BPJS in dealing with the stigma of the community that considers BPJS users whose services are never a priority, as well as the challenges faced in providing services to the community.

This public lecture activity is part of FK USU's efforts to prepare medical students who are clinically competent and understand aspects of health policies and systems in Indonesia.
