In commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), KODAM I/Bukit Barisan (BB) organized a bazaar and social service activity for the community. As part of the series of activities, KODAM I/BB collaborated with the Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), to provide free ultrasonography (USG) examinations to the community in Medan on September 22, 2026.

The USG examination activity involved a team from Radiology FK USU consisting of dr. Dedy Dwi Putra, Sp.Rad, as Head of the Study Program; dr. Rizka Farahin Assania, M.Ked(Rad), Sp.Rad, as Acting Secretary of the Study Program; as well as teaching staff dr. Vicky Septian Ariska, M.Ked(Rad), Sp.Rad and dr. Hafizhalaila Ammar, M.Ked(Rad), Sp.Rad, together with participants of the Radiology Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) FK USU.

During the activity, the team conducted abdominal USG examinations to assess the condition of the organs within the participants' abdominal cavities. The examinations were conducted as part of early detection efforts and to provide an initial overview of the health conditions of participants attending the social service activity.

In addition to conducting examinations, the Radiology FK USU team also provided explanations to participants regarding the examination findings. If there were findings that required further examination, participants were directed to undergo further examinations at Putri Hijau Hospital so that the identified conditions could be followed up according to their medical needs.

This activity supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being through the provision of access to health examinations for the community. Free USG examination services provide participants with an opportunity to obtain initial information about their health conditions and encourage medical follow-up if indications requiring further examination are identified.

The collaboration between KODAM I/BB and Radiology FK USU also reflects the spirit of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Cross-institutional cooperation in providing health services to the community is part of efforts to build partnerships that can expand the reach of services and provide greater benefits to the community.

The enthusiasm of the community was evident throughout the implementation of the USG examinations as part of the bazaar and social service activities. Through this activity, Radiology FK USU hopes to continue contributing to providing education and health services to the community while supporting efforts to increase awareness of the importance of examinations and early detection.

The social service activity commemorating the 81st Anniversary of TNI serves as a form of collaboration that provides direct benefits to the people of Medan, while strengthening the role of FK USU in supporting improvements in public health through education, healthcare services, and community service.
