On Thursday (January 17, 2025), Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., along with his team, conducted a working visit to the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FM USU), as part of the university’s annual working visit program. The event was held at the 3rd Floor Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine USU and attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K), accompanied by the Vice Deans II and III, Expert Staff, as well as Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs and Departments.
The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K). In his opening remarks, he expressed his appreciation to all participants for attending the meeting. He also encouraged everyone to carefully listen to the important points presented by the Rector so that the Faculty of Medicine USU’s programs in 2025 could remain aligned with the policies and strategic direction of Universitas Sumatera Utara.
“Thank you to all colleagues who have taken the time to attend this event. I hope we can carefully listen to the important presentation that will be delivered by the Rector of USU,” said Prof. Aldy.
In his presentation, Rector Muryanto emphasized the importance of open dialogue between university leadership and the academic community in every faculty, particularly at the Faculty of Medicine USU. According to him, the visit served as an opportunity to directly understand the aspirations, challenges, and potential innovations that could be developed within the faculty.
“This visit is tangible evidence that we want to directly understand the needs and potential of each faculty. We must work together to develop relevant innovations that create meaningful impact,” said Prof. Muryanto.
The annual working visit also served as an important momentum to evaluate the alignment between the Faculty of Medicine USU’s programs and the university’s strategic plan. This effort is in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, particularly in promoting the improvement of educational quality, strengthening academic governance, and developing a higher education environment capable of producing competent and adaptive human resources who can respond to the needs of society.
Rector Muryanto further emphasized that the success of a university should not only be measured by its academic achievements, but also by its ability to become a driver of positive change in society. This reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening its contribution through education, innovation, and community engagement that generates meaningful impacts for sustainable development.
Furthermore, the open dialogue and direct exchange of ideas between university leaders and the academic community also support SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, particularly in strengthening effective, transparent, accountable, and inclusive institutional governance. Through two-way communication, the university and faculty are expected to develop more participatory governance while responding effectively to various needs and challenges within the Faculty of Medicine USU.
In the final session, participants had the opportunity to directly convey their questions, suggestions, and feedback regarding the matters presented by the Rector and his team. The session served as an important platform for fostering open communication and strengthening synergy between the university and the faculty in implementing programs aligned with the vision, mission, and strategic plan of Universitas Sumatera Utara.
