Sunday (08/12/2024), the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held USU RUN 2024. This activity is part of a series enlivening USU's 72nd Anniversary with the theme “Celebrating 72 Years of Excellence.” The event was officially opened by the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si. on the USU Auditorium page.
USU RUN 2024, this time, presents 2 race categories, namely Family RUN with a distance of 1.5 km and Obstacle RUN with a distance of 5 km. Participants from the academic community and the general public attended this activity. In addition to running, there were also bazaar stands containing various local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Before the race began, the activity was opened by the USU Rector. The USU Rector expressed thousands of thanks to all participants who enlivened this activity. “We thank all the participants who have attended. This activity is not just running and exercising, but this is the spirit and togetherness in enlivening the 72nd Anniversary of USU,” said Prof. Muryanto.
Chairman of the Anniversary Committee, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG(K), explained that USU RUN aligns with USU's vision to strengthen the higher education ecosystem. This activity establishes intimacy between the academic community and the general public and a place to strengthen cross-generational relationships.
“This activity not only strengthens friendship, but also supports the higher education ecosystem in achieving the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
In addition, Dr. Muara highlighted the high enthusiasm of participants who came from the USU environment and the general public. He hopes that similar activities can continue to be held in the future to strengthen the bond between community members further.
The Acting Governor of North Sumatra, Dr. Agus Fatoni, M.Si, was also present at this activity. On this occasion, Fatoni invited the USU Run 2024 participants to continue encouraging the spirit of sports to keep the body fit and healthy.
“Come on, we are all part of this special moment; we continue to encourage the spirit of healthy living and exercise. Everyone must be enthusiastic,” said Fatoni.
After releasing the USU RUN 2024 participants, Fatoni, USU Rector Muryanto Amin, and Committee Chair Dr. Muara, the lecturers, also joined the participants following the activity.
