The USU Faculty of Medicine held a guest lecture on May 12, 2023. This time presenting a resource person in the field of toxicology, namely Dr. dr. Tri Maharani, M.Sc, Sp. EM, Chairperson of the Study of Venomous Animal Bites and Poisonous Plants at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI). She is the President of the Indonesian Toxicology Society and is currently the only venomous snake toxicologist in Indonesia.

The presentation was also a socialization activity for the Guidebook for Bites of Poisonous Animals and Plants from the Indonesian Ministry of Health. Participants in this activity were quite varied and from various disciplines. They were very enthusiastic about listening to the material from the speakers. This can be seen from their interest, who were passionate about asking questions in the discussion session.

On this occasion, the speaker also handed over a grant to Prof. Chairudin P. Lubis USU Hospital, represented by Dr. dr. Gemma Nazri Yanni, M.Ked (Ped), SpA (K), in the form of 1 vial of Green Vit Viper (antivenom for most snakes that bite in Medan) and 1 vial of Polineuro (antivenom for Welang, Weling, and King Cobra snakes). Thank you to Dr. dr. Tri Maharani, M.Sc, Sp. EM, and hopefully, this activity can be helpful for all of us.
