Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the USU Faculty of Medicine Hall, the Faculty of Medicine of the Universitas Sumatera Utara held a Tribute to Dr. T. Mansur and a Book Launching event to commemorate one of the founders of USU. As for those present at the opening of this event, USU University Secretary Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar M.Ked (OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.F.E.R., Vice Dean I Dr. dr. Delyuzar, M.Ked (PA), Sp.PA (K), and staff.
In his remarks, USU University Secretary Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar M.Ked (OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.F.E.R told about Dr.T.Mansur's ideals in educating the nation's life, this was proven by the establishment of higher education in North Sumatra as a form of his love for education. “His ideals to educate the nation's life sought the establishment of higher education in North Sumatra, this is a very noble goal and shows his love for science,” said the Secretary of USU University.
The Secretary of the University explained that the figure of Dr. T. Mansur was the inspiration who established the first faculty at USU, namely the Faculty of Medicine on August 20, 1952. Dr. T. Mansur's struggle starts from his educational journey, and returns to North Sumatra with a high sense of concern for the health of the people of North Sumatra. “Dr. T. Mansur is one of those who is an inspirer, is one of the figures who used to be a doctor from Stovia then continued to become a surgeon in Leiden, but finally returned to North Sumatra to build initially the health of the people of North Sumatra then established the USU Faculty of Medicine on August 20, 1952,” said the Secretary of USU University.
With the presence of a book in the name of one of the founders of USU, immortalized on a protocol street in Medan, it is hoped that it can provide motivation and inspiration for the USU academic community and the community. The good values contained in Dr. T. Mansur's life career have high enthusiasm, struggle, and dedication so that they can be implemented into our lives.
