At the 2024 POGI Annual Scientific Meeting held from July 21 to 24, 2024, in East Nusa Tenggara, dr. Irwin Lamtota Lumbanraja, M.Ked (OG), Sp.OG., who graduated from the USU Faculty of Medicine's Obstetrics and Gynecology Study Program in 2023, won first place in a prestigious award competition for all graduates of obstetrics and gynecology specialist education programs in Indonesia. The Tajaluddin Award is an Indonesian Obstetrics and Gynecology Collegium (KOGI) award to those with excellent achievements during their Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist education in Indonesia. This award is given through a rigorous selection process with competitive assessment criteria, including length of education, academic transcripts, national exam scores, presentation of scientific papers in national and international meetings, publications in national scientific journals, intra and extracurricular activities during education, and interpersonal relationships.
During his 4 years and 6 months of specialist education in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the USU Faculty of Medicine, dr. Irwin presented 8 scientific papers at both national and international levels and published 5 scientific articles. This remarkable achievement is proof of his high spirit and exceptional academic abilities, which professors and doctors across departments of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara supported.
“Praise God, for sure I am very grateful. This award belongs to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. I sincerely thank all professors, doctors, seniors, juniors, midwives, nurses, and admin officers who have helped and supported me during my specialist education,” said Dr. Irwin Lamtota Lumbanraja in his speech. In his speech, dr. Irwin Lamtota Lumbanraja, M.Ked (OG), Sp.OG., also said, “Special thanks to Prof. Dr. dr. M. Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked (OG), Sp.OG Subsp. FER, who has been my inspiration and mentor during my education through both academic and non-academic aspects of my education. He instilled in me the importance of bringing out the best version of ourselves.”
dr. Irwin Lamtota Lumbanraja, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG., born in Medan on November 2, 1992, is a graduate of General Medical Education and Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynecology Education from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. He started his studies at FK USU in 2010, earned his medical degree in 2014, then completed his medical professional education in 2016. After that, he continued to the obstetrics and gynecology master program until finally becoming an obstetrics and gynecology specialist in 2023.
Currently, the FK USU Obstetrics and Gynecology Study Program has won the 1st Tadjuluddin Award, which is proof that the FK USU Obstetrics and Gynecology education center is one of the best Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist education centers in Indonesia.
