Medan, September 8, 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, continues to strengthen internal synergy and coordination in support of institutional development that is excellent, adaptive, and sustainable. This effort was realized through a working visit by the Deanery of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, to the Department of Internal Medicine at H. Adam Malik General Hospital on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The working visit was attended by the Deanery of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, accompanied by the Head of the Administrative Office and the Manager of Cooperation of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The Director of H. Adam Malik General Hospital was also present and provided perspectives on strengthening synergy between medical education institutions and hospitals in supporting education, research, and healthcare services. This collaboration between educational institutions and hospitals is closely related to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through strengthened strategic cooperation to generate joint contributions in supporting improvements in the quality of education and institutional development.
The Deanery of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and the Director of H. Adam Malik General Hospital were welcomed by the leadership of the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The meeting took place in a warm and collaborative atmosphere, discussing various opportunities and strategies to strengthen the role of the Department of Internal Medicine in supporting the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education. Strengthening the academic role and professionalism of teaching staff also supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the creation of a collaborative, adaptive, and competency-oriented educational environment.
The activity began with a welcoming speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, who expressed appreciation for the contribution of the Department of Internal Medicine in supporting the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education. In her/his remarks, the Dean emphasized the importance of synergy among the Deanery, departments, and study programs in establishing effective governance and creating an academic environment capable of responding to developments in medical science and healthcare needs.

The activity continued with discussions and presentations on various strategies for developing the Department of Internal Medicine. The discussion covered strengthening governance, the implementation of medical education, human resource development, increasing research productivity, strengthening healthcare services, as well as opportunities for developing cooperation and community service.
Through this working visit, the Deanery of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, hopes to establish an increasingly aligned understanding and strategic steps between the faculty and department levels. This synergy is expected to accelerate the implementation of various development programs while strengthening the position of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, as an excellent and competitive medical education institution.
This working visit also reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, to building collaborative, transparent, and quality-oriented governance. With increasingly stronger coordination across all work units, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, continues to move forward together in realizing the institution's vision and making tangible contributions to the advancement of education, science, and human resource development.
