November 16, 2025 — Another remarkable achievement has been accomplished by the academic community of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU). The FK USU delegation team won First Place in the Public Poster category at the Medical Competition and Fair of Anatomy and Physiology (MINERFA) 2025, held at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Andalas (FK Unand), from November 14–16, 2025.

MINERFA is recognized as one of the prestigious competitions that brings together medical students from various universities across Indonesia in the fields of anatomy and physiology. This year, hundreds of participants competed in various categories, including olympiads, research, and educational design projects such as public posters.

The public poster created by the FK USU delegation team was recognized for its ability to present scientific material effectively, communicate information clearly, and engage the general public. In addition, the health message conveyed was considered relevant, educationally impactful, and easy to understand for people from all backgrounds.

This achievement aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, particularly through efforts to improve public health literacy and promote the dissemination of accessible health information. Health education through poster media is expected to raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining good health and adopting healthy lifestyles.

The Dean of FK USU, Prof. Aldy, expressed his appreciation and pride in this achievement. “This accomplishment demonstrates the quality, creativity, and commitment of our students in contributing to public health education. We hope this success will inspire other students to continue creating and achieving excellence, not only at the local level but also nationally and internationally,” he stated.

This success also serves as strong evidence that FK USU continues to nurture future medical professionals who excel not only academically but also in innovating ways to communicate health messages to the wider community.

This achievement also supports SDG 4: Quality Education, particularly by encouraging innovative learning, fostering creativity, and enhancing students’ competencies in applying scientific knowledge to address community needs. Participation in scientific competitions also provides students with opportunities to develop critical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to produce educational materials that benefit society.

With this achievement, FK USU further strengthens its position as one of Indonesia’s leading medical faculties in academic excellence, research, and creative innovation.
