Medan, August 7, 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held the handover ceremony for new students admitted into the Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS), the Master of Clinical Medicine (MKK), and the Subspecialist Program. The event took place at the 3rd-floor seminar room of the Faculty of Medicine, attended by faculty leaders, heads of study programs, and new students from various levels of medical professional education.

The program began with a briefing on the education system, prevention of plagiarism, bullying, and sexual harassment, as well as academic ethics within the Faculty of Medicine. The ceremony continued with the singing of the national anthem, a prayer recital, and welcoming speeches from the university and faculty leadership.

In his remarks, the University Secretary of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.F.E.R., congratulated the 140 new students who successfully passed the selection process from among 291 applicants. He underscored the critical role of specialist and subspecialist doctors as the frontline in improving the quality of national health services.

Prof. Fidel also emphasized that the USU Faculty of Medicine is one of the key pillars in realizing USU’s vision of becoming a World Class University. He noted that the success of specialist and subspecialist education would be decisive in shaping academic quality and the competitiveness of healthcare services at both the national and international levels.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldi Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K), expressed his hope that PPDS and subspecialist students would complete their studies successfully, graduate on time, and become competent and ethical doctors. He also announced that the Faculty is currently preparing to open three new study programs, consisting of two SP2 Consultant programs and one SP1 program.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the signing of the integrity pact, represented by Gumaisyah Safira on behalf of PPDS students, and Dr. Stepen Johan Prasetio, Sp.P., on behalf of subspecialist students, witnessed directly by the respective heads of study programs.

Through this handover ceremony, the Faculty of Medicine reaffirmed its commitment to producing medical professionals who are skilled, ethical, and ready to meet the health challenges of society. The event concluded on an optimistic note, marking the beginning of a new academic journey and service commitment for the students in the medical field.
