Medan, June 2, 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU) welcomed a visit from Dr. drh. Tati Ariyanti, M.P., Chief Assessor of the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), as part of an evaluation and quality enhancement initiative for FK USU’s laboratory standards. The visit took place in the Dean’s Office of FK USU and was personally received by the Dean, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG, Subsp.K.Fm.

Also present at the meeting were the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M.Gizi, Sp.GK, Subsp.PK; the Head of the Integrated Laboratory of FK USU, Dr. dr. Dedi Ardinata, M.Kes., AIFM; along with members of the faculty leadership and laboratory management team.

Dr. drh. Tati Ariyanti serves as a Chief Assessor of the National Accreditation Committee and possesses extensive experience in auditing and evaluating the quality standards of testing laboratories across various institutions in Indonesia. Her visit represents an important component of FK USU’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of its laboratory services in accordance with both national and international standards.

During the visit, in-depth discussions were held on various aspects of laboratory quality management, including quality management systems, the technical competence of human resources, facility and infrastructure management, and the implementation of operational procedures that comply with laboratory accreditation requirements. The Dean of FK USU, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, emphasized that strengthening laboratory quality is a strategic step in supporting high-quality education, research, and community service activities. He noted that laboratories that meet international standards will further reinforce FK USU’s position as a leading and globally competitive medical education institution.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Integrated Laboratory of FK USU, Dr. dr. Dedi Ardinata, explained that the visit provided a valuable opportunity to gain insights and recommendations from an experienced assessor aimed at refining and improving the laboratory’s existing quality management system.

The primary objective of the visit was to assess the readiness and compliance of FK USU’s laboratory quality standards with various international requirements, both from technical and managerial perspectives. This evaluation is expected to support the Integrated Laboratory’s efforts to maintain and enhance service quality, enabling it to consistently deliver reliable, accurate, and trustworthy testing results.
