The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), has once again demonstrated its commitment to advancing the internationalization of medical education through the Elective Clinical Rotation Program. The program represents one of the Faculty's concrete initiatives to deliver high-quality medical education while strengthening international academic collaboration, in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

On this occasion, the Faculty welcomed five students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kuala Lumpur – Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP), Malaysia, namely:

The visiting students were warmly received by the leadership and academic community of the USU Faculty of Medicine as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the academic partnership that has been established between the two institutions. The program reflects the Faculty's commitment to creating a globally oriented learning environment through student exchange, educational collaboration, and the development of international competencies.

Throughout the Elective Clinical Rotation Program, the students will participate in a series of academic activities, scientific discussions, and clinical rotations at various teaching facilities and affiliated hospitals of the USU Faculty of Medicine. Under the supervision of faculty members and clinical educators, participants will gain first-hand learning experiences on Indonesia's healthcare system, clinical approaches, and medical practices.
Through this program, participants are expected to broaden their academic perspectives, enhance their professional competencies, and strengthen their cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills. In addition to serving as a platform for clinical learning, the program also facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experiences between students from Indonesia and Malaysia, enriching their perspectives in addressing the challenges of healthcare delivery in an increasingly globalized world.
For the USU Faculty of Medicine, the implementation of this program forms part of its long-term strategy to enhance the quality of medical education through stronger international networks. Collaboration with overseas higher education institutions not only supports the development of globally competitive graduates but also reinforces strategic partnerships in education, research, and community engagement, as envisioned under SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
