On July 20, 2023, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) established a Regional Collaborating Center (RCC) with a vision to improve health status and reduce disease burden through capacity building, research, and education.
With the theme “Addressing Global Health Challenges in Asia Together”, on August 17, 2023, which is also the independence day of the Republic of Indonesia, USU-SDGHI opened the acceptance of research grant proposals with the main focus areas in the fields of Policy, Research, Innovation Science, Education, and Health System Enhancement. This research grant program aims to encourage interdisciplinary teams led by USU and SDGHI Faculty members to execute global health projects that address health threats in Indonesia and the region.
The RCC will evaluate the proposals based on several criteria. Among them, the RCC will prioritize choosing proposals that can answer the health challenges developing countries face, especially in the Asian region. In addition, the RCC will select proposals that can illustrate cross-disciplinary collaboration, have the potential to be developed, and also can increase opportunities for cooperation between USU and SDGHI.
Furthermore, USU-SDGHI will hold a webinar on August 25, 2023 as an information session on the acceptance of the research grant proposal. To participate in the webinar, applicants can register using the following link (https://bit.ly/RCCGrantCall). In the webinar, applicants will get a more detailed explanation of the acceptance of the research grant proposal and ask USU-SDGHI further questions. The acceptance of the research grant proposal will close on September 28, 2023, and the selection results will be announced on November 13, 2023.
