With Excellent accreditation, the Specialist Program in Internal Medicine of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) focuses on educating and treating various internal diseases with coverage of almost all parts of the human body, such as cardiology, endocrinology, and hepatology. Students will receive direct education from expert lecturers and a group of competent individuals with national teaching certificates.
The study program is deeply committed to making students competent, critical-thinking, and empathetic surgeons and organ specialists who can perform their profession well and fulfill their societal responsibilities. Students who have completed this study program will hold the Internal Medicine Specialist (Sp.P.D.) degree.

- Achieving the outcomes of the implementation of IPDS-PD in the field of education by producing graduates with extensive knowledge in Internal Medicine, equipped with skills and responsibility in applying health sciences. This enables them to understand and solve health problems scientifically and to practice health sciences optimally within the community in accordance with the field of Internal Medicine.
- Achieving the outcomes of the implementation of IPDS-PD in the fields of research and community service through research and scientific works in the field of Internal Medicine, particularly in the area of Tropical and Infectious Diseases. These contributions aim to advance knowledge, education, and services for the benefit of stakeholders.
- Establishing collaborative efforts in institutional development, education, and research at regional, national, and international levels, particularly in the field of Tropical and Infectious Diseases, to accelerate the achievement of the vision and mission.
