Description
August 17 is a historic day for Indonesia, marking the moment in 1945 when Indonesia declared independence. The annual commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence Day is important to strengthen nationalism and togetherness. To celebrate the 80th Independence Day, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), is organizing a series of fun, educational, and solidarity-building competitions. This event aims to strengthen the bonds among all academic staff of FK USU.
Event Details – Competition Categories:
1. Mixed Futsal
The game starts with a kick-off from the center of the field.
Each team tries to score as many goals as possible.
Players are not allowed to lift their sarong or roll up their house dress during play.
Slipped or fallen players must get up on their own, unless there’s a serious injury.
Lifting sarong/house dress for faster movement earns a warning.
Three violations = penalty or disqualification.
The referee may stop the match in case of fouls, rough play, or potential injury.
2. Water Relay
The first participant scoops water from the starting bucket using a plastic plate.
Water is passed from one participant’s plate to the next until the last player pours the remaining water into a bucket at the finish line.
While pouring, players must not look back or turn their bodies.
The relay continues for the set time (e.g., 5 minutes).
3. Nail-in-Bottle Challenge
Each participant wears a string with a nail hanging behind them.
The five team members are tied together as one unit, standing side by side or in a set formation.
A bottle is placed in front of each member and must not be moved.
After the “Start!” signal, the team must coordinate their body movements to drop the nail into the bottle simultaneously without using their hands.
Once all nails are in, the team must stand and shout “Finished!”
4. Biscuit-to-Mouth Challenge
A biscuit is placed on the first participant’s forehead.
They must move the biscuit to their mouth without using their hands (only facial movements).
If it falls to the ground, that participant restarts.
No hands, no help from friends, no touching the face.
Cheating leads to disqualification.
5. Foot-Tied Crackers Eating Contest
Each participant sits or stands as instructed by the committee.
A cracker is tied to their foot using a string (usually to the shoe tip or ankle).
The cracker hangs in front of their face, with the string length adjusted (not too close or far).
At the “Start!” signal, participants must eat the cracker without using their hands, which must remain behind their backs.
Feet may move to raise or lower the cracker as part of their strategy.
Using your hands to touch the cracker will result in disqualification.
6. Hooking a Basket with Wire:
Each participant/team receives one basket and several pieces of wire or string.
The task is to attach the basket to the provided rope/pole using the wire so that it hangs securely and does not fall.
Participants must not drop the basket during the attachment process.
Once the basket is successfully hung with the wire, participants must release it, and the basket must remain hanging for at least 5 seconds to be considered valid.
7. Balloon Dance & Race
Each pair holds a balloon between their bodies (e.g., at the stomach, chest, or forehead) without using their hands.
At the “Start” signal, pairs must dance for 10–15 seconds while keeping the balloon from falling or popping.
Once the music stops or a signal is given, the runners must quickly run toward the finish line while keeping the balloon intact.
Participants must stop and dance for another 10–15 seconds when the music plays again.
After the music stops, they continue running toward the finish line, keeping the balloon from falling or popping.
The pair that reaches the finish line first without dropping or popping the balloon is declared the winner.
8. Sarong Relay
The first participant wears a sarong up to the waist.
At the “Start” signal, the first participant must pass the sarong to the second participant without using their hands (they may use body parts such as the hips, legs, or knees).
The process continues from one person to the next in order, until the fifth participant.
Upon receiving the sarong, the fifth participant must immediately run to the finish line while still wearing it.
The fastest team to complete the relay correctly is declared the winner.
9. Removing Socks While Balancing a Water Bucket
The team lies on their backs in a circle with their legs raised to support a water-filled bucket.
At the “Start” signal, the first participant must remove their socks by lowering their legs without causing the bucket to fall or spill.
If the first participant successfully removes both socks, the turn moves to the second participant.
If the bucket falls during the second participant’s turn, the organizers will refill it, and the team will have to start again from the beginning.
Once all participants have removed their socks, they must signal to the organizers.
10. Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) Game
Players must arrive at least 10 minutes before the match.
The maximum time allowed for selecting strategies and formations is 3 minutes.
Pausing is prohibited except when the ball is out of play.
The match will be restarted if a technical issue (disconnect or crash) occurs within the first 3 minutes.
If a crash occurs after a high score has been reached, the organizers reserve the right to continue or partially replay the match.
The use of cheats, modifications, or bug exploits is strictly prohibited.
