Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine

Graduates of this study program can pursue a career as a pulmonologist in a hospital or respiratory health clinic. Their duties include diagnosing, treating and managing various respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Some graduates choose to open private practices as pulmonary consultants where they manage patients with complex respiratory conditions, provide medical consultations, and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as bronchoscopy and pulmonary function tests.

As respiratory therapists in medical institutions such as pulmonary centers and rehabilitation, graduates of this study program are responsible for conducting evaluations of patients with sleep disorders or sleep disordered breathing and designing respiratory rehabilitation programs for patients with COPD or pulmonary fibrosis.

As a lecturer, graduates of this study program can become lecturers and instructors in medical education institutions. They will be assigned to lecture medical courses, guide student research, and engage in pulmonary and respiratory health academic research.

Graduates can also pursue careers in international health as pulmonary health consultants. Working for international health organizations, they will be expected to provide pulmonary health services in developing countries and countries in humanitarian crisis situations.
