Urology

Graduates can work as urologists in general hospitals, specialized urology hospitals, or privately owned clinics. They diagnose, treat, and perform surgeries on various urogenital system disorders, such as kidney stones, bladder tumors, and prostatic hyperplasia.

For graduates who choose to open a private practice as a urology consultant, they will offer consultation, examination, and treatment services for patients with urological problems, including sexual dysfunction, infertility, and urinary incontinence.

Graduates also choose to engage in education by pursuing a career as a lecturer or researcher at a medical school or research institution. They will be tasked with teaching medical students about urological diseases, conducting research in urology, and contributing to the development of medical science through scientific publications.

Some graduates specialize in male or female reproductive health. They will help couples experiencing fertility issues by providing medication and assistive reproductive procedures such as artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Graduates who choose a specialized career as endourology surgeons will be responsible for using endoscopic technology to perform minimally invasive urological surgical procedures. They perform treatment for kidney stones, bladder tumors, and urethral strictures using techniques such as laser lithotripsy and transurethral resection.

Graduates of this course can also specialize in urological oncology, treating patients with cancers of the urogenital system, such as prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer. They must design and perform comprehensive cancer therapy, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.

Graduates can also become urologic reconstructive therapists who treat patients with congenital abnormalities or injuries to the urinary tract or reproductive organs. They perform reconstructive procedures such as the formation of a new urinary tract or reconstruction of the penis after trauma.

Some graduates specialize in treating kidney and urinary tract stones (urolithiasis). They design and carry out therapies to crush or remove kidney stones using techniques such as extracorporeal lithotripsy (ESWL) or ureteroscopy.
