The Indonesian Society of Oncology Surgeons (PERABOI) Medan held a PERABOI Medan World Cancer Day event to commemorate World Cancer Day with the theme “United By Unique” on February 15-16, 2025 at Grand Mercure Hotel Maha Cipta Medan Angkasa.
This activity aims to raise awareness about the dangers of cancer, promote preventive measures, and emphasize the importance of early check-ups.
dr. Endi Taris Pasaribu, Msi.Med, SpB. Subsp.Onk(K), as the Chairperson of the Committee, opened this activity and continued by giving opening remarks. dr. Endi Taris hopes that this activity can run smoothly and the objectives of this activity can be right on target and can provide useful knowledge for the participants who attend, as is known this activity was attended by 200 participants consisting of specialists, general practitioners, medical students, and other health workers.
Vice Dean II of the USU Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked (OG), Sp.OG (K)., representing the Dean of the USU Faculty of Medicine said that cancer is the most dangerous disease in the world. However, with appropriate knowledge and action we can reduce this risk.
“Cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases in the world. But with knowledge, awareness, and appropriate action, we can also reduce the risk and increase life expectancy for people with this disease.” He said.
“This World Cancer Day activity was attended by specialists, general practitioners, medical students, and other health workers. Let us join forces to raise awareness and support efforts to prevent and treat this cancer to create a healthier and better world, “added Dr. Muara.
Representative of the Organization Division of YKI Sumut, Hadyan Yunhas also expressed his support for the commemoration of 'World Cancer Day' to be a fixed agenda held annually and filled with some events so that the public is educated about the dangers of cancer.
