Medan, September 1, 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), and H. Adam Malik General Hospital held a coordination meeting to discuss the development of an action plan for preventing and addressing cases of bullying in clinical education settings, particularly those involving Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) participants and clinical clerkship students (co-assistants). The meeting was held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in the Meeting Room of the Vice Dean of FK USU.

The meeting followed up on the visit by the Director General of Health in July 2026 as part of efforts to evaluate and strengthen the implementation of clinical education at H. Adam Malik General Hospital. Through the meeting, FK USU and H. Adam Malik General Hospital reaffirmed their shared commitment to creating a clinical education environment that is safe, professional, dignified, and free from all forms of bullying.

The meeting was attended by dr. Faisal Habib, Sp.JP(K), FIHA, and Dr. dr. Iskandar Nasution, Sp.S(K), FINS, and was welcomed by the Vice Deans of FK USU. The meeting was conducted in a collaborative atmosphere, with discussions focusing on concrete and measurable steps to prevent and address bullying.

Several aspects were prioritized in the development of the action plan, including strengthening prevention systems, establishing mechanisms for reporting and handling cases, providing protection and support for students, and monitoring interactions within the clinical education environment. These efforts are expected to foster an academic and professional culture that promotes mutual respect while upholding ethics and ensuring student safety.

Strengthening a safe clinical education environment also supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by creating an environment that supports the physical and psychosocial health and well-being of students. These efforts are also aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, by ensuring that the educational process takes place in a safe, inclusive, and high-quality environment.

The collaboration between FK USU and H. Adam Malik General Hospital in developing this action plan also supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening partnerships between educational institutions and teaching hospitals to establish an integrated and sustainable system for preventing and addressing bullying.
