Dr. Muhammad Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.SP., as the Vice Rector II of USU, conveyed the importance of fostering confidence in the spirit and capabilities of young people in both villages and cities. Although the world is changing rapidly, young generations who are brave, resilient, persistent, patriotic, and empathetic will become a great force for the progress of Indonesia.

Tuesday (28/10/2025), Universitas Sumatera Utara held the 97th Youth Pledge Day Commemoration Ceremony at the courtyard of the USU Rectorate Bureau with the theme “Pemuda Pemudi Bergerak, Indonesia Bersatu,” led directly by the Vice Rector II of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Muhammad Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.SP., as the ceremony supervisor.

The Faculty of Medicine had the opportunity to serve as the organizing committee for the Youth Pledge Day Commemoration Ceremony. The MC/Moderator was dr. Rizki Indah Putri Lubis, MHPE.; the Reading of the 1945 Constitution Preamble was delivered by Prof. Dr. dr. Dewi Masyithah Darlan, DAP&E. M.P.H., Sp.Park.; the Reading of the 1928 Indonesian Youth Congress Resolution by Prof. Dr. dr. Elmeida Effendy, M.Ked(KJ)., Sp.KJ(K).; the Conductor was dr. Esther Reny Deswani Sitorus M.Ked(PA)., Sp.PA.; and the Prayer was read by dr. Wisman, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A(K).

 

Vice Rector II read the Youth Pledge script prepared by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Erick Thohir. In the script, Erick Thohir invited the young generation to remember the spirit and courage of the earlier youths who pledged to fight for independence and national unity. He emphasized that with knowledge, hard work, and honesty, today’s younger generation can continue the struggle of their predecessors with the same spirit upholding the glory of Indonesia and never giving up.

“Today we no longer raise bamboo spears, but we raise knowledge, hard work, and honesty. Yet its meaning remains one Indonesia must continue to stand tall,” he said. Dr. Muhammad Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.SP., conveyed the importance of fostering confidence in the spirit and capabilities of the younger generation in both villages and cities. According to him, although the world is changing rapidly, young people who are brave, resilient, persistent, patriotic, and empathetic will become a great force for the progress of the Indonesian nation.
