Medan, July 15, 2026 – The leadership of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), participated in the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of Anti-Bullying Measures held at the Third Floor Administration Building Hall of H. Adam Malik General Hospital. The activity was conducted as part of the working visit of the Directorate General of Advanced Healthcare, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, to H. Adam Malik General Hospital.
The event was attended by several senior government officials, including dr. Azhar Jaya, S.H., S.K.M., M.A.R.S., Director General of Advanced Healthcare at the Ministry of Health; dr. Ockti Palupi Rahayuningtyas, M.P.H., M.H.Kes., Director of Referral Healthcare Governance at the Ministry of Health; and Albertus Agus Windarto, Investigation Inspector from the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The presence of these stakeholders underscored a shared commitment to strengthening governance in clinical education and ensuring healthcare services are delivered in environments free from bullying.
FK USU's participation reflected the Faculty's commitment to fostering a professional, safe, and ethical clinical learning environment. As an institution that designates H. Adam Malik General Hospital as its primary teaching hospital, FK USU considers the promotion of mutual respect and the protection of learners to be fundamental components of improving the quality of medical education.
The monitoring and evaluation session served as a forum to review the implementation of policies, preventive mechanisms, and response strategies related to bullying within teaching hospitals. It also provided an opportunity for dialogue and coordination among government agencies, teaching hospitals, and higher education institutions to strengthen collaboration in creating a healthy, inclusive, and learner-centered clinical education ecosystem.
Through the participation of the Dean and the Vice Deans, FK USU reaffirmed its support for government policies aimed at strengthening integrity and governance in medical education. Strong collaboration among educational institutions, teaching hospitals, and relevant ministries is expected to create an academic environment that upholds professionalism while providing high-quality learning experiences for medical students, clinical clerks, and specialist medical trainees.
This initiative also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by promoting a safe and healthy environment for healthcare professionals and learners. It also supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening a high-quality clinical education system that is free from bullying and grounded in professionalism. Furthermore, the collaboration among the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, H. Adam Malik General Hospital, and the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara reflects the implementation of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cross-institutional cooperation to enhance the quality of medical education and healthcare services in Indonesia.
